IPR003422

Description

IPR003422 is a Cytochrome b-c1 complex, subunit 6.

The ubiquinol-cytochrome C reductase complex (cytochrome bc1 complex) is a respiratory multienzyme complex [[cite:PUB00006415]]. The bc1 complex contains 11 subunits; 3 respiratory subunits (cytochrome B, cytochrome C1, Rieske protein), 2 core proteins and 6 low molecular weight proteins. This family represents the 'hinge' protein of the complex, subunit 6, which is thought to mediate formation of the cytochrome c1 and cytochrome c complex. Proteins in this entry from an α-helical hairpin.

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Mitochondrial electron transport, ubiquinol to cytochrome c The transfer of electrons from ubiquinol to cytochrome c that occurs during oxidative phosphorylation, mediated by the multisubunit enzyme known as complex III.
Molecular function Ubiquinol-cytochrome-c reductase activity Enables the transfer of a solute or solutes from one side of a membrane to the other according to the reaction: CoQH2 + 2 ferricytochrome c = CoQ + 2 ferrocytochrome c + 2 H+.
