IPR008698

Description

IPR008698 is a NADH dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] 1 beta subcomplex subunit 7, NDUB7.

NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I) ([ec:7.1.1.2]) is a respiratory-chain enzyme that catalyses the transfer of two electrons from NADH to ubiquinone in a reaction that is associated with proton translocation across the membrane (NADH + ubiquinone = NAD+ + ubiquinol) [[cite:PUB00005074]]. Complex I is a major source of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that are predominantly formed by electron transfer from FMNH(2). Complex I is found in bacteria, cyanobacteria (as a NADH-plastoquinone oxidoreductase), archaea [[cite:PUB00043561]], mitochondria, and in the hydrogenosome, a mitochondria-derived organelle. In general, the bacterial complex consists of 14 different subunits, while the mitochondrial complex contains homologues to these subunits in addition to approximately 31 additional proteins [[cite:PUB00045437]].

This family consists of the accessory subunit of complex I NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase NDUB7 (or NDUFB7, also known as B18), which is not involved in catalysis [[cite:PUB00086570], [cite:PUB00097152]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Molecular function NADH dehydrogenase activity Catalysis of the reaction: NADH + H+ + acceptor = NAD+ + reduced acceptor.
Cellular component Mitochondrion A semiautonomous, self replicating organelle that occurs in varying numbers, shapes, and sizes in the cytoplasm of virtually all eukaryotic cells. It is notably the site of tissue respiration.
