IPR018491

Description

IPR018491 is a SLC12A transporter, C-terminal.

This entry represents a domain found in the C-terminal of the solute carrier family 12 (SLC12) members, which are K-Cl cotransporters. The SLC12 family members are predicted to have 12 transmembrane (TM) regions in a central hydrophobic domain, together with hydrophilic N- and C-termini that are likely cytoplasmic. Comparison of their sequences with those of other ion-tranporting membrane proteins reveals that they are part of a new superfamily of cation-chloride co-transporters, which includes the Na-Cl and Na-K-2Cl co-transporters [[cite:PUB00002956], [cite:PUB00004291], [cite:PUB00044874]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Ion transport The directed movement of charged atoms or small charged molecules into, out of or within a cell, or between cells, by means of some agent such as a transporter or pore.
Cellular component Membrane A lipid bilayer along with all the proteins and protein complexes embedded in it an attached to it.
Molecular function Transmembrane transporter activity Enables the transfer of a substance, usually a specific substance or a group of related substances, from one side of a membrane to the other.
