IPR023576

Description

IPR023576 is a UbiE/COQ5 methyltransferase, conserved site.

A number of methyltransferases have been shown to share regions of similarities [[cite:PUB00002307]]. Apart from the ubiquinone/menaquinone biosynthesis methyltransferases (for example, the C-methyltransferase from the ubiE gene of Escherichia coli), the ubiquinone biosynthesis methyltransferases (for example, the C-methyltransferase from the COQ5 gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and the menaquinone biosynthesis methyltransferases (for example, the C-methyltransferase from the MENH gene of Bacillus subtilis), this family also includes methyltransferases involved in biotin and sterol biosynthesis and in phosphatidylethanolamine methylation.

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .
