IPR026797

Description

IPR026797 is a HAUS augmin-like complex subunit 6.

This entry represents subunit 6 of the HAUS augmin-like complex, involved in mitotic spindle assembly, maintenance of centrosome integrity and completion of cytokinesis [[cite:PUB00056753], [cite:PUB00056754]]. Subunit 6 interacts with the NEDD1-gamma-tubulin complex and recruits this complex to the spindle, which in turn promotes microtubule polymerisation [[cite:PUB00061820]].

Although plant cells assemble the mitotic spindle in the absence of the centrosome structure, they also possess an augmin complex with similar functions in microtubule nucleation and organisation. The Arabidopsis augmin complex contains both conserved and unique subunits compared with its animal counterparts [[cite:PUB00068102]]. This entry includes plant AUGMIN subunit 6 (AUG6).

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Spindle assembly The aggregation, arrangement and bonding together of a set of components to form the spindle, the array of microtubules and associated molecules that serves to move duplicated chromosomes apart.
Cellular component HAUS complex A protein complex that localizes to interphase centrosomes and to mitotic spindle tubules and regulates mitotic spindle assembly and centrosome integrity; in human, the complex consists of eight subunits, some of which are homologous to subunits of the Drosophila Augmin complex.
