IPR033370

Description

IPR033370 is a Conserved oligomeric Golgi complex subunit 1.

The conserved oligomeric Golgi complex (COG) is a peripheral membrane protein complex involved in intra-Golgi protein trafficking. The complex is composed of eight subunits that are located in two lobes; Lobe A contains COG1-4, and Lobe B is composed of COG5-8. COG1 and COG8 are required for the stable association between two COG subcomplexes [[cite:PUB00044937], [cite:PUB00045273], [cite:PUB00078554]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Intra-Golgi vesicle-mediated transport The directed movement of substances within the Golgi, mediated by small transport vesicles. These either fuse with the cis-Golgi or with each other to form the membrane stacks known as the cis-Golgi reticulum (network).
Cellular component Golgi transport complex A multisubunit tethering complex of the CATCHR family (complexes associated with tethering containing helical rods) that has a role in tethering vesicles to the Golgi prior to fusion. In yeast, this complex is called the Sec34/35 complex and is composed of eight subunits (Sec34p, Sec35p, Dor1p, Cod1p, Cod2p, Cod3p, Cod4p, and Cod5p). In mammals the subunits are named COG1-8.
