IPR039188

Description

IPR039188 is a ATPase family AAA domain-containing protein 3.

This entry represents ATAD3 and its homologues, including ATAD3A/B/C from humans. They play an important role in mitochondrial network organization [[cite:PUB00089260]]. ATAD3A is involved in mitochondrial-mediated antiviral innate immunity [[cite:PUB00102746]]. ATAD3 contains two N-terminal coiled-coil domains, a central trans-membrane segment and a conserved C-terminal ATPase domain of the AAA+-type with an ATP-binding (Walker A motif) and a catalytic ATPase domain (Walker B motif) [[cite:PUB00089261]].

ATAD-3 is necessary for Caenorhabditis elegans larval development and is essential for the progression of the first steps of post-implantation development in mice [[cite:PUB00089260], [cite:PUB00089262]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Cellular component Mitochondrion A semiautonomous, self replicating organelle that occurs in varying numbers, shapes, and sizes in the cytoplasm of virtually all eukaryotic cells. It is notably the site of tissue respiration.
Biological process Mitochondrion organization A process that is carried out at the cellular level which results in the assembly, arrangement of constituent parts, or disassembly of a mitochondrion; includes mitochondrial morphogenesis and distribution, and replication of the mitochondrial genome as well as synthesis of new mitochondrial components.
