IPR004104

Description

IPR004104 is a Gfo/Idh/MocA-like oxidoreductase, C-terminal.

This entry represents a domain found C-terminal in Gfo/Idh/MocA family of proteins.

In general, the Gfo/Idh/MocA protein family members are enzymes that catalyse various different chemical reactions such as oxidation and reduction of carbohydrates, oxidation of trans-dihydrodiols, reduction of biliverdin, and hydrolysation of glycosidic bonds. All the enzymes in this family utilise NAD(P) as a hydride donor or acceptor. However, despite the structural similarities, some member such as the transcriptional repressor Gal80p, does not have enzymatic activity [[cite:PUB00094646]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Molecular function Oxidoreductase activity Catalysis of an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction, a reversible chemical reaction in which the oxidation state of an atom or atoms within a molecule is altered. One substrate acts as a hydrogen or electron donor and becomes oxidized, while the other acts as hydrogen or electron acceptor and becomes reduced.
Biological process Oxidation-reduction process A metabolic process that results in the removal or addition of one or more electrons to or from a substance, with or without the concomitant removal or addition of a proton or protons.
