IPR006667

Description

IPR006667 is a SLC41A/MgtE, integral membrane domain.

This entry represents the integral membrane region of SLC41 transporter proteins. SLC41 family of divalent cation transporters includes SLC41A1/2/3 from eukaryotes and MgtE from prokaryotes [[cite:PUB00098696], [cite:PUB00098704], [cite:PUB00098698], [cite:PUB00098699], [cite:PUB00044725]]. MgtE is the prokaryote homologue of SLC41A1 magnesium transporter which adopts a homodimeric architecture with five transmembrane domains in the C terminus and cytosolic N terminus domains [[cite:PUB00098702], [cite:PUB00044725]]. Bacterial family members have one copy of this region while archaeal and eukaryotic sequences have two.

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Cation transport The directed movement of cations, atoms or small molecules with a net positive charge, into, out of or within a cell, or between cells, by means of some agent such as a transporter or pore.
Molecular function Cation transmembrane transporter activity Enables the transfer of cation from one side of a membrane to the other.
