IPR008013

Description

IPR008013 is a GATA-type transcription activator, N-terminal.

<p>GATA transcription factors mediate cell differentiation in a diverse range of tissues. Mutations are often associated with certain congenital human disorders. The six classical vertebrate GATA proteins, GATA-1 to GATA-6, are highly homologous and have two tandem zinc fingers. The classical GATA transcription factors function as transcription activators. In lower metazoans GATA proteins carry a single canonical zinc finger. This entry represents the N-terminal domain of the family of GATA transcription activators.</p>

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Molecular function DNA binding Any molecular function by which a gene product interacts selectively and non-covalently with DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid).
Cellular component Nucleus A membrane-bounded organelle of eukaryotic cells in which chromosomes are housed and replicated. In most cells, the nucleus contains all of the cell's chromosomes except the organellar chromosomes, and is the site of RNA synthesis and processing. In some species, or in specialized cell types, RNA metabolism or DNA replication may be absent.
Molecular function Zinc ion binding Interacting selectively and non-covalently with zinc (Zn) ions.
Biological process Positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated Any process that activates or increases the frequency, rate or extent of cellular DNA-templated transcription.
