IPR011183

Description

IPR011183 is a Pyrophosphate-dependent phosphofructokinase PfpB.

<p>Diphosphate--fructose-6-phosphate 1-phosphotransferase catalyses the addition of phosphate from diphosphate (PPi) to fructose 6-phosphate to give fructose 1,6-bisphosphate ([ec:2.7.1.90]). The enzyme is also known as pyrophosphate-dependent phosphofructokinase. The usage of PPi-dependent enzymes in glycolysis presumably frees up ATP for other processes [[cite:PUB00014390]]. [interpro:IPR012828] represents the ATP-dependent 6-phosphofructokinase enzyme contained within Phosphofructokinase. This entry contains primarily bacterial, plant alpha, and plant beta sequences. These may be dimeric nonallosteric enzymes (bacteria) or allosteric heterotetramers (plants) [[cite:PUB00014411]].</p>

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Molecular function ATP binding Interacting selectively and non-covalently with ATP, adenosine 5'-triphosphate, a universally important coenzyme and enzyme regulator.
Biological process Glycolytic process The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the breakdown of a carbohydrate into pyruvate, with the concomitant production of a small amount of ATP and the reduction of NAD(P) to NAD(P)H. Glycolysis begins with the metabolism of a carbohydrate to generate products that can enter the pathway and ends with the production of pyruvate. Pyruvate may be converted to acetyl-coenzyme A, ethanol, lactate, or other small molecules.
Molecular function Diphosphate-fructose-6-phosphate 1-phosphotransferase activity Catalysis of the reaction: fructose-6-phosphate + diphosphate = phosphate + fructose-1,6-bisphosphate.
