Human SmB plays a role in pre-mRNA splicing as a core component of the spliceosomal U1, U2, U4 and U5 small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), the building blocks of the spliceosome [[cite:PUB00103471], [cite:PUB00100665], [cite:PUB00092514], [cite:PUB00090272], [cite:PUB00097019]]. It is associated with cerebrocostomandibular syndrome [[cite:PUB00103470], [cite:PUB00103473]]. Human SmN is related to some form of Prader-Willi syndrome [[cite:PUB00103472]].</p>
