IPR018369 is a Chaperonin GroES, conserved site.

The chaperonins are 'helper' molecules required for correct folding and subsequent assembly of some proteins [[cite:PUB00004550]]. These are required for normal cell growth [[cite:PUB00004022]], and are stress-induced, acting to stabilise or protect disassembled polypeptides under heat-shock conditions. Type I chaperonins present in eubacteria, mitochondria and chloroplasts require the concerted action of 2 proteins, chaperonin 60 (cpn60) and chaperonin 10 (cpn10) [[cite:PUB00009990]].

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .
GO term | Namespace | Name | Definition | Relationships |
---|---|---|---|---|
Molecular function | ATP binding | Interacting selectively and non-covalently with ATP, adenosine 5'-triphosphate, a universally important coenzyme and enzyme regulator. | ||
Biological process | Protein folding | The process of assisting in the covalent and noncovalent assembly of single chain polypeptides or multisubunit complexes into the correct tertiary structure. |
