IPR027517

Description

IPR027517 is a Deoxyhypusine hydroxylase.

Deoxyhypusine hydroxylase ([ec:1.14.99.29]) catalyses the hydroxylation of the N(6)-(4-aminobutyl)-L-lysine intermediate to form hypusine, an essential post-translational modification only found in mature eIF-5A factor [[cite:PUB00064786]]. In Drosophila melanogaster, it is essential for organismal viability and plays a role in a wide number of important processes such as cell growth and proliferation, and regulates induction of autophagy and protein synthesis [[cite:PUB00064785]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Peptidyl-lysine modification to peptidyl-hypusine The modification of peptidyl-lysine to form hypusine, peptidyl-N6-(4-amino-2-hydroxybutyl)-L-lysine.
Molecular function Deoxyhypusine monooxygenase activity Catalysis of the reaction: protein N6-(4-aminobutyl)-L-lysine + donor-H2 + O2 = protein N6-((R)-4-amino-2-hydroxybutyl)-L-lysine + acceptor + H2O.
