IPR034590

Description

IPR034590 is a POLYCHOME/GIGAS CELL1.

This family of plant proteins includes POLYCHOME (UVI4, UV-B-INSENSITIVE 4) and its paralogue GIGAS CELL1 (GIG1 , UV-B-INSENSITIVE 4-like). GIG1 and UVI4 negatively regulate activities of anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) ubiquitin ligase. GIG1 and UVI4 may regulate endomitosis and endoreplication, preventing an unscheduled increase in cellular ploidy, by inhibiting APC/C in different ways [[cite:PUB00083760]]. They preferentially inhibit APC/C(CDC20) and APC/C(FZR), respectively [[cite:PUB00083761]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Cellular component Nucleus A membrane-bounded organelle of eukaryotic cells in which chromosomes are housed and replicated. In most cells, the nucleus contains all of the cell's chromosomes except the organellar chromosomes, and is the site of RNA synthesis and processing. In some species, or in specialized cell types, RNA metabolism or DNA replication may be absent.
Biological process Regulation of nuclear division Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of nuclear division, the partitioning of the nucleus and its genetic information.
Biological process Negative regulation of ubiquitin protein ligase activity Any process that stops, prevents or reduces the frequency, rate or extent of ubiquitin protein ligase activity.
