IPR036428

Description

IPR036428 is a Pterin 4 alpha carbinolamine dehydratase superfamily.

DCoH has a β(2)-α-β(2)-α fold arranged in two α/β layers.

Pterin 4 alpha carbinolamine dehydratase is also known as DCoH. DCoH is the dimerisation cofactor of hepatocyte nuclear factor 1 (HNF-1) that functions as both a transcriptional coactivator and a pterin dehydratase [[cite:PUB00005041]]. X-ray crystallographic studies have shown that the ligand binds at four sites per tetrameric enzyme, with little apparent conformational change in the protein.

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Tetrahydrobiopterin biosynthetic process The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the formation of tetrahydrobiopterin, the reduced form of biopterin (2-amino-4-hydroxy-6-(1,2-dihydroxypropyl)-pteridine). It functions as a hydroxylation coenzyme, e.g. in the conversion of phenylalanine to tyrosine.
Molecular function 4-alpha-hydroxytetrahydrobiopterin dehydratase activity Catalysis of the reaction: (6R)-6-(L-erythro-1,2-dihydroxypropyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4a-hydroxypterin = (6R)-6-(L-erythro-1,2-dihydroxypropyl)-7,8-dihydro-6H-pterin + H(2)O.
