<p>This group represents an ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase, UCH37 (also known as UCHL5) type.</p> <p>Human UCH37 is a protease that specifically cleaves 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitin chains. It is also a deubiquitinating enzyme associated with the 19S regulatory subunit of the 26S proteasome [[cite:PUB00076275], [cite:PUB00056693]].</p> <p>This entry also includes fission yeast Uch2, which is an ubiquitin-protein hydrolase involved both in the processing of ubiquitin precursors and of ubiquitinated proteins [[cite:PUB00078017]].</p>
