IPR035463

Description

IPR035463 is a Peroxin 13.

Peroxin-13 (Pex13), located in the peroxisomal membrane, is a component of the peroxisomal translocation machinery with peroxin-14 and peroxin-17. Both termini of peroxin-13 are oriented to the cytosol. It is required for peroxisomal association of peroxin-14 [[cite:PUB00008654], [cite:PUB00101870]]. Both human and budding yeast Pex13 bind to the PTS1 signal recognition factor Pex5. However, they bind to Pex5 through different binding sites [[cite:PUB00085399]]. In budding yeasts, Pex13 is also involved in the PTS2 signal recognition through its interaction with Pex7 [[cite:PUB00085400]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Cellular component Peroxisome A small organelle enclosed by a single membrane, and found in most eukaryotic cells. Contains peroxidases and other enzymes involved in a variety of metabolic processes including free radical detoxification, lipid catabolism and biosynthesis, and hydrogen peroxide metabolism.
Cellular component Integral component of membrane The component of a membrane consisting of the gene products and protein complexes having at least some part of their peptide sequence embedded in the hydrophobic region of the membrane.
Biological process Protein import into peroxisome matrix, docking The process in which a complex formed of a peroxisome targeting sequence (PTS) receptor bound to a PTS-bearing protein docks with translocation machinery in the peroxisomal membrane.
