IPR040036

Description

IPR040036 is a Protein CYCLOPS.

CYCLOPS (also known as IPD3) is required for root symbiosis with mycorrhizal fungi in plants [[cite:PUB00090442], [cite:PUB00090443]]. It forms a signal transduction complex with CCaMK that is specifically required for symbiotic infection [[cite:PUB00090441]]. CYCLOPS binds to a motif within the ERN1 promoter and in combination with CCaMK positively regulates transcription of ERN1, a gene that encodes an AP2/ERF transcription factor [[cite:PUB00090444]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Cellular component Nucleus A membrane-bounded organelle of eukaryotic cells in which chromosomes are housed and replicated. In most cells, the nucleus contains all of the cell's chromosomes except the organellar chromosomes, and is the site of RNA synthesis and processing. In some species, or in specialized cell types, RNA metabolism or DNA replication may be absent.
Biological process Arbuscular mycorrhizal association A form of mutualism between a fungus and the roots of a vascular plant, where hyphae of the fungus penetrate the plant cell wall and invaginate its cell membrane. Once inside, the fungus forms highly branched structures for nutrient exchange with the plant called arbuscules. Aids in the acquisition by the plant of nutrients such as phosphorus from the soil.
Molecular function Sequence-specific DNA binding Interacting selectively and non-covalently with DNA of a specific nucleotide composition, e.g. GC-rich DNA binding, or with a specific sequence motif or type of DNA e.g. promotor binding or rDNA binding.
