IPR010795

Description

IPR010795 is a Prenylcysteine lyase.

This entry represents a conserved region found in a group of prenylcysteine lyases ([ec:1.8.3.5]) that are approximately 500 residues long. Prenylcysteine lyase is a FAD-dependent thioether oxidase that degrades a variety of prenylcysteines, producing free cysteine, an isoprenoid aldehyde and hydrogen peroxide as products of the reaction [[cite:PUB00013019]]. It has been noted that this enzyme has considerable homology with ClP55, a 55kDa protein that is associated with chloride ion pumps [[cite:PUB00013020]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Molecular function Oxidoreductase activity, acting on a sulfur group of donors, oxygen as acceptor Catalysis of an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction in which a sulfur-containing group acts as a hydrogen or electron donor and reduces oxygen.
Biological process Prenylcysteine catabolic process The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the breakdown of prenylcysteine, 3-methyl-2-buten-1-yl-cysteine, a derivative of the amino acid cysteine formed by the covalent addition of a prenyl residue.
Biological process Oxidation-reduction process A metabolic process that results in the removal or addition of one or more electrons to or from a substance, with or without the concomitant removal or addition of a proton or protons.
