IPR021906

Description

IPR021906 is a SWI/SNF-like complex subunit BAF250/Osa.

This entry represents the mammalian BAF250a/b and its homologue osa from fruit flies [[cite:PUB00071661]]. They are part of the SWI/SNF-like ATP-dependent chromatin remodelling complex that regulates gene expression through regulating nucleosome remodelling. In humans there are two BAF250 isoforms, BAF250a/ARID1a and BAF250b/ARID1b. BAF250a/b may be E3 ubiquitin ligases that target histone H2B [[cite:PUB00071658]].

This entry also includes Arabidopsis LFR protein, which is involved in leaf and flower development [[cite:PUB00078694]] and is required for the formation of anther cell layers and normal expression of genes that regulates anther development [[cite:PUB00078695]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Chromatin remodeling Dynamic structural changes to eukaryotic chromatin occurring throughout the cell division cycle. These changes range from the local changes necessary for transcriptional regulation to global changes necessary for chromosome segregation.
Cellular component SWI/SNF complex A SWI/SNF-type complex that contains 8 to 14 proteins, including both conserved (core) and nonconserved components; contains the ATPase product of the yeast SNF2 or mammalian SMARCA4/BAF190A/BRG1 gene, or an ortholog thereof.
Cellular component Brahma complex A SWI/SNF-type complex that contains 8 to 14 proteins, including both conserved (core) and nonconserved components; contains the ATPase product of the Drosophila brm (brahma) or mammalian SMARCA2/BAF190B/BRM gene, or an ortholog thereof.
