IPR034561

Description

IPR034561 is a Negative regulator of systemic acquired resistance SNI1.

SNI1 was isolated in a screen for negative regulators of NPR1, a transcriptional coactivator of plant pathogen defence gene PR1 [[cite:PUB00083718]]. SNl1 has been shown to cooperate with the transcription repressor CBNAC, which binds to cis-elements on the PR1 promoter, to suppress PR1 expression [[cite:PUB00083719]]. SNI1 also regulates DNA damage sensor proteins RAD17 and ATR, suggesting that DNA damage responses is an intrinsic component of the plant immune responses. SNI1 is a subunit of the Structural Maintenance of Chromosome (SMC) 5/6 complex involved in DNA damage responses [[cite:PUB00083720]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Cellular component Nucleus A membrane-bounded organelle of eukaryotic cells in which chromosomes are housed and replicated. In most cells, the nucleus contains all of the cell's chromosomes except the organellar chromosomes, and is the site of RNA synthesis and processing. In some species, or in specialized cell types, RNA metabolism or DNA replication may be absent.
Biological process Cellular response to DNA damage stimulus Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a stimulus indicating damage to its DNA from environmental insults or errors during metabolism.
Cellular component Smc5-Smc6 complex A conserved complex that contains a heterodimer of SMC proteins (Smc5p and Smc6p, or homologs thereof) and several other proteins, and is involved in DNA repair and maintaining cell cycle arrest following DNA damage. In S. cerevisiae, this is an octameric complex called Mms21-Smc5-Smc6 complex, with at least five of its subunits conserved in fission yeast and humans.
Biological process Negative regulation of defense response Any process that stops, prevents, or reduces the frequency, rate or extent of a defense response.
Biological process Negative regulation of transcription, DNA-templated Any process that stops, prevents, or reduces the frequency, rate or extent of cellular DNA-templated transcription.
