IPR005716 is a Ribosomal protein uS7, eukaryotic/archaeal.
<p>This family describes eukaryotic and archaeal uS7 ribosomal proteins. The eukaryotic protein was previously known as S5.</p> <p>Ribosomal protein (RP)S5 has variable N-terminal regions that affect the efficiency of initiation translation process by impacting small ribosomal subunit to function [[cite:PUB00080278]]. RPS7 is located at the head of the small subunit which is a primary ribosomal RNA (rRNA) binding protein that assists in rRNA folding and the binding of other proteins during small subunit assembly in all species. RPS7 is also involved in the formation of the mRNA exit channel at the interface of the large and small subunits [[cite:PUB00080277], [cite:PUB00021787], [cite:PUB00026111]].</p>

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .
GO term | Namespace | Name | Definition | Relationships |
---|---|---|---|---|
Molecular function | Structural constituent of ribosome | The action of a molecule that contributes to the structural integrity of the ribosome. | ||
Biological process | Translation | The cellular metabolic process in which a protein is formed, using the sequence of a mature mRNA or circRNA molecule to specify the sequence of amino acids in a polypeptide chain. Translation is mediated by the ribosome, and begins with the formation of a ternary complex between aminoacylated initiator methionine tRNA, GTP, and initiation factor 2, which subsequently associates with the small subunit of the ribosome and an mRNA or circRNA. Translation ends with the release of a polypeptide chain from the ribosome. | ||
Cellular component | Small ribosomal subunit | The smaller of the two subunits of a ribosome. |
