IPR007694

Description

IPR007694 is a DNA helicase, DnaB-like, C-terminal.

<p>This entry represents the C-terminal domain of DNAB-like helicases. DnaB helicase unwinds the DNA duplex at the Escherichia coli chromosome replication fork. The mechanism by which DnaB both couples ATP hydrolysis to translocation along DNA and denatures the duplex is unknown, however, a change in the quaternary structure of the protein involving dimerization of the N-terminal domain has been observed and may occur during the enzymatic cycle. This domain contains an ATP-binding site and is therefore probably the site of ATP hydrolysis [[cite:PUB00079934], [cite:PUB00033777], [cite:PUB00079935]].</p>

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Molecular function DNA helicase activity Catalysis of the reaction: NTP + H2O = NDP + phosphate, to drive the unwinding of a DNA helix.
Molecular function ATP binding Interacting selectively and non-covalently with ATP, adenosine 5'-triphosphate, a universally important coenzyme and enzyme regulator.
Biological process DNA replication The cellular metabolic process in which a cell duplicates one or more molecules of DNA. DNA replication begins when specific sequences, known as origins of replication, are recognized and bound by initiation proteins, and ends when the original DNA molecule has been completely duplicated and the copies topologically separated. The unit of replication usually corresponds to the genome of the cell, an organelle, or a virus. The template for replication can either be an existing DNA molecule or RNA.
