IPR002218

Description

IPR002218 is a tRNA uridine 5-carboxymethylaminomethyl modification enzyme MnmG-related.

<p>MnmG (also known as GidA) is a tRNA modification enzyme found in bacteria and mitochondria. Though its precise molecular function of these proteins is not known, it is involved in the 5-carboxymethylaminomethyl modification of the wobble uridine base in some tRNAs [[cite:PUB00043571], [cite:PUB00043572]]. Sequence variations in the human mitochondrial protein may influence the severity of aminoglycoside-induced deafness [[cite:PUB00043573]].</p> <p>This entry includes MnmG and related proteins, such as the methylenetetrahydrofolate--tRNA-(uracil-5-)-methyltransferase enzyme TrmFO.</p>

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process TRNA processing The process in which a pre-tRNA molecule is converted to a mature tRNA, ready for addition of an aminoacyl group.
Molecular function Flavin adenine dinucleotide binding Interacting selectively and non-covalently with FAD, flavin-adenine dinucleotide, the coenzyme or the prosthetic group of various flavoprotein oxidoreductase enzymes, in either the oxidized form, FAD, or the reduced form, FADH2.
