IPR005345

Description

IPR005345 is a PHF5-like.

Phf5 is a member of a novel murine multigene family that is highly conserved during evolution and belongs to the superfamily of PHD-finger proteins. At least one example, from Mus musculus (mouse), may act as a chromatin-associated protein [[cite:PUB00020106]]. The Schizosaccharomyces pombe (fission yeast) ini1 gene is essential, required for splicing [[cite:PUB00020105]]. It is localised in the nucleus, but not detected in the nucleolus and can be complemented by human ini1 [[cite:PUB00020105]]. The proteins of this family contain five CXXC motifs.

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process MRNA splicing, via spliceosome The joining together of exons from one or more primary transcripts of messenger RNA (mRNA) and the excision of intron sequences, via a spliceosomal mechanism, so that mRNA consisting only of the joined exons is produced.
