IPR008895

Description

IPR008895 is a Vps72/YL1 family.

This entry include a group of proteins involved in chromatin remodelling, including Vps72 (vacuolar protein sorting-associated protein 72) from budding yeasts. Vps72 is a Htz1-binding component of the SWR1 complex, which is required for the incorporation of the histone variant H2AZ into chromatin [[cite:PUB00075531]]. It is also required for vacuolar protein sorting in budding yeasts [[cite:PUB00075531]].

The Vps72 homologue from animals, YL-1, is a deposition-and-exchange histone chaperone specific for H2AZ1, specifically chaperones H2AZ1 and deposits it into nucleosomes. It is component of the SRCAP and Tip60 complexes, and mediates the ATP-dependent exchange of histone H2AZ1/H2B dimers for nucleosomal H2A/H2B, leading to transcriptional regulation of selected genes by chromatin remodeling [[cite:PUB00101224], [cite:PUB00101225]].

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Cellular component Nucleus A membrane-bounded organelle of eukaryotic cells in which chromosomes are housed and replicated. In most cells, the nucleus contains all of the cell's chromosomes except the organellar chromosomes, and is the site of RNA synthesis and processing. In some species, or in specialized cell types, RNA metabolism or DNA replication may be absent.
Biological process Chromatin remodeling Dynamic structural changes to eukaryotic chromatin occurring throughout the cell division cycle. These changes range from the local changes necessary for transcriptional regulation to global changes necessary for chromosome segregation.
Biological process Regulation of transcription, DNA-templated Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of cellular DNA-templated transcription.
Biological process Histone exchange The replacement, within chromatin, of resident histones or histone subunits with alternative, sometimes variant, histones or subunits.
