IPR037912

Description

IPR037912 is a Microspherule protein 1.

Microspherule protein 1 (MCRS1 or MSP58) is an RNA-binding protein that interacts with Daxx transcriptional regulator, relieving its repressor activity. Overexpression of MCRS1 leads to translocation of Daxx to the enlarged nucleoli in COS-1 or 293 cells [[cite:PUB00087857]]. It also interacts with fragile X messenger ribonucleoprotein 1 (FMRP), which represses specific mRNAs being transported as silent ribonucleoparticles from the cell body of a neuron to the distant synapse. MCRS1 binds to the G-quadruplex structures of the mRNA [[cite:PUB00087858]]. MCRS1 is a component of the NSL complex [[cite:PUB00060167]], the MLL1/MLL complex [[cite:PUB00063002]], and is a putative regulatory component in the chromatin remodeling INO80 complex [[cite:PUB00062156]]. The isoform MCRS2 is a cell-cycle-dependent protein which accumulates in the early S phase, and interacts with the telomerase-inhibitory protein LPTS/PinX1 [[cite:PUB00087859]].

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Molecular function G-quadruplex RNA binding Interacting selectively and non-covalently with G-quadruplex RNA structures, in which groups of four guanines adopt a flat, cyclic hydrogen-bonding arrangement known as a guanine tetrad.
Cellular component Ino80 complex A multisubunit protein complex that contains the Ino80p ATPase; exhibits chromatin remodeling activity and 3' to 5' DNA helicase activity.
Cellular component MLL1 complex A protein complex that can methylate lysine-4 of histone H3. MLL1/MLL is the catalytic methyltransferase subunit, and the complex also contains the core components ASH2L, HCFC1/HCF1 WDR5 and RBBP5.
