IPR003445

Description

IPR003445 is a Cation transporter.

This family consists of various potassium transport proteins (Trk) and V-type sodium ATP synthase subunit J or translocating ATPase J ([ec:7.1.2.2]). These proteins are involved in active sodium uptake utilizing ATP in the process. TrkH from Escherichia coli is a hydrophobic membrane protein and determines the specificity and kinetics of cation transport by the TrK system in this organism [[cite:PUB00009487], [cite:PUB00099198]]. This protein interacts with TrkA and requires TrkE for transport activity [[cite:PUB00099201]].

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Biological process Cation transport The directed movement of cations, atoms or small molecules with a net positive charge, into, out of or within a cell, or between cells, by means of some agent such as a transporter or pore.
Molecular function Cation transmembrane transporter activity Enables the transfer of cation from one side of a membrane to the other.
Biological process Transmembrane transport The process in which a solute is transported across a lipid bilayer, from one side of a membrane to the other.
