IPR003173

Description

IPR003173 is a Transcriptional coactivator p15 (PC4), C-terminal.

<p>This entry represents a ssDNA binding domain found at the C-terminal end of YdbC from Lactococcus lactis, Activated RNA polymerase II transcriptional coactivator p15 from humans and other PC4 family members.</p> <p>YdbC, which adopts a dimeric fold, shows a concave four-stranded antiparallel sheet followed by a C-terminal helix in a similar configuration to PC4 [[cite:PUB00063943]].</p> <p>p15 has a bipartite structure composed of an amino-terminal regulatory domain and a carboxy-terminal cryptic DNA-binding domain [[cite:PUB00006308], [cite:PUB00011851]]. The DNA-binding activity of the carboxy-terminal is disguised by the amino-terminal p15 domain. Activity is controlled by protein kinases that target the regulatory domain. Its interaction with the tumor suppressor protein p53 may play a role in certain neurodegenerative diseases [[cite:PUB00100871]].</p>

Associated GO terms

GO predictions are based solely on the InterPro-to-GO mappings published by EMBL-EBI, which are in turn based on the mapping of predicted domains to the InterPro dataset. The InterPro-to-GO mapping was last updated on , while the GO metadata was last updated on .

GO term Namespace Name Definition Relationships
Molecular function DNA binding Any molecular function by which a gene product interacts selectively and non-covalently with DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid).
Biological process Regulation of transcription, DNA-templated Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of cellular DNA-templated transcription.
