<p>This is the dimerization domain found in structure-specific recognition protein SSRP1 (POB3 in yeast) and related proteins, which are components of the FACT complex - a general chromatin factor that acts to reorganise nucleosomes. The FACT complex is involved in multiple processes that require DNA as a template such as mRNA elongation, DNA replication and DNA repair [[cite:PUB00088205], [cite:PUB00088206], [cite:PUB00101032], [cite:PUB00101047]]. During transcription elongation the FACT complex acts as a histone chaperone that both destabilises and restores nucleosomal structure [[cite:PUB00088207], [cite:PUB00033374]].</p> <p>This domain has a Pleckstrin homology fold, made of 6 β-strands.</p>
